Lingering stench a health concern for many
I never had this issue with the original scent. Despite following directions & repeated rinsing I can't get rid of the smell. The FAQ has to specifically has to address the lingering chemical issues. They are aware how overpowering & horrid it is. I didn't even use it on carpet.
I can't use the kitchen & laundry which is unacceptable.

overpowering cheap scent
Almost every review on the site seems to say this, but here's one more: at some point they switched from the excellent old formula to one so heavily perfumed that it actually makes things worse. The scent is so strong and unpleasant that no one could possibly tell if it was actually suppressing odour or just covering it!
After the first use, I poured the entire 946-mL bottle down the drain, but days later, the room still reeks of cheap functional fragrance. If I wanted that, the market is cluttered with cheaper ways to make your house smell like Febreze, albeit not so intensely. It's not expensive enough that I care about losing the money, but I do regret losing the previous product, which was good and useful and is no longer available. Unless they ever release a version that prominently advertises being unperfumed -- not just more lightly perfumed, though that's definitely needed -- I don't think I'd risk buying the brand again.

Product fragrance terrible, would prefer cat pee
The product did not work and the smell of the fragrance is so strong that my eyes hurt every time I'm in the space where the odor treatment was done. Why on earth would a product have a fragrance added to it when "ODOR ELIMINATOR" is one of the main claims of the product?

Works great but strong scent
We have used Advanced Stain and Odor Eliminator for cats for many years, because it always worked great to get out stains from our cats vomiting. However, since we got the newly shaped gallon jug, the scent is way too strong! It was perfect before to get out stains and the scent was mild but effective. Please, Please go back to the milder scent!! It's obvious many other customers also feel the scent is overpowering. Just imagine, the cats do not want to smell that strong scent from the cleaner as they lay back on those same areas of the cat tree, couch or carpet where they had previously vomited. Also, the scent is lingering in the room and it did not used to do that. It is a very noticeable difference. This would've been a 5 star rating prior to the scent change.

HORRIBLE "fragrance" and did not remove stain
As others have said product's "fragrance" is HORRENDOUSLY strong and much worse than pet odor! In addition, urine stain on rug was not visibly reduced.

The "fragrance" is not "light" it's utterly awful!
I have used this two times, the first time in our finished basement, and the smell is so overpowering, I can barely use the room anymore. I thought it might just be that there's less ventilation, so I chalked it up to that. It's been a few months now, and it's still unbearable. I used it in a closet 3 days ago, thinking that since it has better ventilation it'd dissipate. There's an open window next to it that's been open for 3 days. It's staggering how strong it still smells. If you live with cats, and love them, as I'm sure most people willing to clean up their messes do, then subjecting them to this smell is truly unkind. Am I wrong or did this product used to be almost completely without scent? What gives?!!

Product smell lingers
As others have mentioned, the product smell is so overwhelming, its almost worse than the pet smell! It makes my eyes burn! It has been over a week since we used it, following directions to the letter, and we still cannot sleep in our bedroom. We have windows open and fans blowing 24/7. Who knows if the pet smell is gone, or just masked by this chemical smell.

Overwhelming smell
I do not know how well this product works since its smell is overwhelming. Is the cat urine smell gone? I don't know. What I do know is that three days later the chemical smell from use of this product is terrible.
