Great for larger cats
I was so happy to find this scratching post when mine was falling apart. I looked everywhere and it seems like most scratching posts are too lightweight for larger cats. This one is perfect for mine and I like that it is not attached to stands used for other purposes as I already have that and neither of my cats like scratching on that.

No training needed
I had to take my dog and cat to a parent's home with me. I picked up a few items at Petsupermarket, one being this scratching post. My cat took to it immediately, and uses it a couple of times a day. She makes no effort to scratch on anything else, even though another cat in the house does. I am planning to get one for the other cat in the house too. It is holding up very well.

Best scratching post
I had a different scratching post which last for several months, before the post broke away from the base. I bought this one which appeared much more sturdier than the other I had. My cat loved it right away, can scratch without the whole thing falling over (like the other less sturdy one I had), and so far has lasted several months in great condition.
